OGM Pivoting For Better Client Care

During the upheaval of 2020 with Covid-19 and civil unrest, OGM has pivoted in many ways so that the services provided are not only done in the safest known ways, but so that support staff and midwife are under the least possible threat of getting sick while caring for others. It is vital that we be able to offer each and every client the full scope of care that they seek, and that we are not thwarted in the delivery of that care by worry over the virus, physical exhaustion from over-extending ourselves, or any number of factors that could lead to substandard function on our end that translates to substandard care for our clients.

As such, OGM has dramatically scaled back the number of people we are serving and the number of days of in-person clinic visits so that every client has the full extent of service that we always have offered, with less risk of midwife exhaustion leading to weakened immunity, sick days, cancelations and contagion with Covid-19 or other seasonal illness, since every little sniffle or body ache tends to cause greater anxiety than they used to.

OGM’s priority is to serve existing clients, repeat clients and those who are unable or struggling to access maternity care. We are taking on only select individuals as new clients and limiting in-person appointments to Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We will still reply to emails and take phone calls, conduct video-conferences during business hours Monday-Friday, and we are still on call 24/7/365 for current clients from the day they enter care through six weeks after birth. But we are limiting traffic in the office, spending a lot more time outdoors, getting sunshine and exercise and fresh air so when clients need us most, we are healthy, energetic and ready to devote the time and attention to their needs.
